Felt like redoing one of those random song memes I did a while ago. I'm not going to tag or anything. I just felt like it. I always like music posts. Also - if for some reason you feel intrigued by one of the songs I mention, we might be able to arrange a little uploading/sendage. ;)
10. Hello Alone - Anberlin
First time I've listened to this song, actually. I downloaded their album, Cities, because I'll hopefully be seeing them on Warped Tour this summer and would like to be familiar with their songs. Favorite line - depression is the unholy ghost in the coastal towns of ahead. Really been feeling that lately. Not in my own person, but around me.
9. Pirelli's Miracle Elixir - Sweeney Todd Soundtrack
An amusing song from the film version of Sweeney Todd. Gosh, Stephen Sondheim is a friggin' genius. And the kid who plays Toby in the film version has an incredible voice, one of the most beautiful voices I've ever heard, actually. No favorite line, because it's all witty.
8. Skeptics And True Believers - The Academy Is...
Another band I'm hopefully seeing on Warped Tour this year. However, I liked them before this anyway. Two favorite lines, though I like the whole song lyrically. would you believe me if I said I didn't need you, 'cause I wouldn't believe you if you said the same to me and someone, somewhere, said some things that may have sparked some sympathy but don't believe, don't believe a word you heard about me
7. We Will Rock You - Queen
Dude, classic. Everyone knows this song, everyone loves it. Leastways, they'd better. No favorite line here, as there really needn't be one. However...some day I want to perform this song as a set opener, fronting a band. It's such an epic rock anthem.
6. I Caught Fire (In Your Eyes) - The Used
The Used are not a band where I actually like the band members. I don't know them personally, they might be really cool guys. But Bert McCracken doesn't seem to bathe much, and he certainly comes off as a jerk. I do like their music, though. in your eyes, I lost my place, could stay a while, I'm melting in your eyes
5. Sugar, We're Goin' Down - Fall Out Boy
Ah, FOB. Despite the whole being MTV's babies for a while, and all the middle school girls loving them and squealing "P33T IS SOOO HAWT!!1!", Fall Out Boy is a really awesome band. Personally, I love Pete Wentz's lyrics. The music is catchy and the lyrics give lasting meaning. drop a heart, break a name
4. House Of Wolves - My Chemical Romance
This song always makes me want to dance. It just has that beat, that bass line, that style. I love, love, love this song. I love all the lyrics to it, I love singing it. Like many of MCR's songs, it's like . . . it's me. Dramatized, allegorized, but me nonetheless. Gerard Way is such a hero, speaking for all the freaks of the world. But that's a topic for me to preach to you about in an entirely different post. ::grins:: Anyway. All lyrics loved, one of my favorite lines. tell me I'm an angel, take this to my grave / tell me I'm a bad man, kick me like a stray
3. Lead Sails (And A Paper Anchor) - Atreyu
Might have done this one before. Not sure. Oh well, I'm sure I'll say different things this time. Anyways. Atreyu = win. Alex Varkatzas is, like, the coolest Greek I know of. (real Greeks, for you Krogers reading, not faux-Greeks) Beautiful song, this. Favorite line, though I love it all - withering away, a shrinking violet dies It's depressing, I know, but the imagery is just so poetic and lovely.
2. One Step Closer - U2
U2. They will always be one of my favorite bands. I love their music, pretty much all of it, and there's a lot. It's just so . . . at times, you listen to it, and you know that the notes came straight from God Himself. well a heart that hurts is a heart that beats / can you hear the drummer slowing / one step closer to knowing
1. Symbol In My Driveway - Jack Johnson
Jack Johnson was one of the artists that kind of eased me into rock music when I was about twelve or thirteen. I hadn't listened to rock very much at all, and through my friends Garret and Ethan, I started to listen to this whole new world of music. It started out with Jack Johnson and U2. Yep. I've got you a brand new weapon, let's see how destructive we can be
So. Yeah. Not really as random as I would have liked. I do these in the hopes that they will somehow reflect my very eclectic iTunes library, but the iTunes shuffle seems to favor certain artists. Granted, I do have more songs of some artists than others. But it even plays the same songs! Like, I can restart the shuffle three times in one day, just because I've closed iTunes or something. And I get five or songs I heard the last time! Gah. Next time, I guess. Gosh what a time waster. But, you know, I love music posts, as I said earlier. Even if just for me to go back and read them later on. And they're great ways to discover new music, when they're from other people.

Yesterday, I was trying to figure what the weird sound was for about a minute, and then I realized that somehow, my cell phone was playing Atreyu out of my pocket without my permission. Crazy phone.
Course, this was my _phone_ listening all on it's own. I had very little to do with it (cept that I put the file there in the first place, of course).
Your phone has good taste in music, apparently.
